On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, received the highest honor from Brunei Darussalam, the "Darjah Kerabat Laila Utama Yang Amat Dihormati" (D.K.L.U), from Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah during his state visit to Brunei Darussalam. The award was presented in a ceremonial event at the Istana Nurul Iman, Bandar Seri Begawan.
This prestigious award is the highest honor bestowed by the Sultanate of Brunei to heads of state and world leaders who have contributed significantly to promoting friendship and cooperation with Brunei Darussalam. President Prabowo becomes the fourth Indonesian President to receive this honor, following President Soeharto (1988), President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (2006), and President Joko Widodo (2015).
With this award, President Prabowo joins the ranks of prominent world leaders who have received this honor, which was first established by Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien III on March 1, 1954. The relationship between Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam has been strong in various fields, including economic cooperation, education, defense, and socio-cultural exchange.
The state visit marks a new chapter in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries in the future. This visit also symbolizes President Prabowo's strong commitment to continuing to strengthen Indonesia's position in diplomatic relations and building strategic relationships with friendly countries in the region and the world.
